Bette Davis Micro Forest
The very first Miyawaki-inspired micro forest in Los Angeles was planted at the Bette Davis Picnic Area in Griffith Park in June 2021. This 1,000 square foot experimental pilot project was planted with an oak woodland plant palette and has been supporting numerous species of insects, birds, lizards, amphibians, and small mammals in just a few short years. Information gathered from this project is helping to refine and improve design and implementation of future micro forest installations in the city.
